Sautéed spinach is one of our favorite quick-to-fix vegetables, and we developed this simple variation with an Asian flair. It includes sesame oil, sliced scallions, and a sprinkling of sesame seeds and pairs nicely with simple entrées like grilled steak and pan-seared salmon.
Sautéed Sesame Spinach
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 20 ounce fresh spinach, washed and dried
- 4 scallions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Heat the sesame and vegetable oils over medium-high heat in a large wok or nonstick pan. Add the spinach, a handful at a time, tossing with tongs until slightly wilted before adding more.
- Once the spinach is wilted, add the scallions, sesame seeds, and a light sprinkling of salt and pepper. Continue to toss until everything is thoroughly coated in oil. The total cooking time should be no longer than 5 minutes.

I like this recipe for its simplicity. I served it with roasted chicken breasts (boneless) that I brushed with a combination of sesame oil and soy sauce and seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. I made white rice too.
I’m glad to hear you liked it Emily. That sounds like a nice meal.
