Sautéed spinach is one of our favorite quick-to-fix vegetables, and we developed this simple variation with an Asian flair. It includes sesame oil, sliced scallions, and a sprinkling of sesame seeds and pairs nicely with simple entrées like grilled steak and pan-seared salmon.

Sautéed Sesame Spinach

This easy sautéed spinach side dish pairs fresh spinach with toasted sesame oil, sesame seeds, and scallions to give it a distinctive Asian flair.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 20 ounce fresh spinach, washed and dried
  • 4 scallions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions 

  • Heat the sesame and vegetable oils over medium-high heat in a large wok or nonstick pan. Add the spinach, a handful at a time, tossing with tongs until slightly wilted before adding more.
  • Once the spinach is wilted, add the scallions, sesame seeds, and a light sprinkling of salt and pepper. Continue to toss until everything is thoroughly coated in oil. The total cooking time should be no longer than 5 minutes.

  1. I like this recipe for its simplicity. I served it with roasted chicken breasts (boneless) that I brushed with a combination of sesame oil and soy sauce and seasoned with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. I made white rice too.5 stars
