Originating in the early 1900s, the Brandy Alexander is an adaptation of a gin cocktail called “The Alexander” that simply replaces gin with cognac or brandy. Easy drinking, creamy and mildly sweet, in our opinion it makes a delightful after-dinner drink.
- 1-1/2 ounces brandy or cognac
- 1 ounce dark creme de cacao
- 3 ounces light cream or half-and-half
- Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a stemmed cocktail glass. Garnish with grated nutmeg.
