Bananas Foster Frappe

Many consider Frappes to be a misnomer in the frozen beverage world - is it a milkshake, a malted?  Webster connotes Frappes as an ice cream blender drink. Mount Gay Rum has taken a few premium ingredients and created a Frappe recipe using their premium Eclipse Rum that's just for grown-ups. Other milk-shakes will forever pale by comparison.

Ingredients ~
3/4 cup Mount Gay Eclipse Rum
3 bananas, peeled
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/3 cup Turbinado or Demerara sugar
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tbsp. Grand Marnier or Triple Sec
1/2 tsp. banana extract
3/4 cup half-and-half
3 cups vanilla ice cream, slightly softened

Preparation ~
Add the bananas to a mixing bowl, along with the lemon juice, sugar, orange liqueur, and cinnamon.  Toss gently.

Place the banana mixture into a sauce-pan with approximately 1 teaspoon melted butter. Simmer on low heat for approximately 5 minutes. Allow to cool thoroughly.

Then add banana mixture and accumulated syrup to blender, along with the extract, rum, half-and-half, and ice cream. Blend until smooth.  Pour into chilled wine goblet. Garnish with sliced strawberries
