DIY Winemaking in SoHo

City Winery in SoHoOkay all you oenophiles, get ready to get your stomp on. This fall, City Winery is slated to open in SoHo, and Manhattanites will have the unique opportunity to stomp, ferment and bottle their own barrels of wine in the heart of the city.

City Winery is a 21,000-square-foot facility at 143 Varick Street that combines event space, a wine bar and a fully operational winery equipped to store 300 barrels.

The winery will bring in grapes from all the best wine regions in the country and abroad - California, Oregon, Washington, New York, Chile and Argentina.

City Winery's Master Winemaker, David Lecomte, will oversee visitors' winemaking experience: crushing, pressing, fermenting, barrel tasting, bottling and labeling.

In addition to state-of-the-art winemaking facilities, City Winery will offer classes, tastings and special dinners.

And to top it all off, Murray's Cheese Shop will offer a special cheese bar to create the ultimate wine and cheese pairings.

Sounds like quite the experience!
