A unique photographic exhibit, "Liquid Gold" by renowned French fashion photographer and artist Bettina Rheims, concludes its worldwide tour in Moscow this October.
"Liquid Gold" is a series of eleven large scale portraits that illuminate the allure of femininity and the embodiment of the "French Chic."
The Wines of Chablis is sponsoring the international tour; a perfect match, as Chablis is often referred to as "Liquid Gold."
As the theme of the exhibit, one key element of the mysterious "French Chic" is embodied in each photograph: Elegance, Magnificence, Sensuality, Desire, Bewitched, Reflection, Intensity, Dream, Pride, Amazon and Thirst.
The photos, which can be viewed at Chablis - The French Chic, are stunningly unique and eye catching. But what does this exhibit really have to do with wine?
According to the Wines of Chablis, everything! To them, Chablis is more than just a wine - it represents the French art of living.
Chablis is a white wine grown in Burgundy, France. The grape from which Chablis is made, Chardonnay, is grown in 19 communes in Burgundy, and the results are categorized into four appellations: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru.
Petit Chablis is a young, fresh and light wine with aromas of fruit, white flowers and minerals. Petit Chablis is often enjoyed as an aperitif.
Chablis has a stronger structure than Petit Chablis and ages quite well. Chablis accompanies seafood or grilled fish beautifully.
Chablis Premier Cru has 40 different types, each with its own unique style - ranging from vibrant and mineral aromas to delicate, fruity aromas.
There are seven Chablis Grands Crus: Blanchot, Bougros, Les Clos, Grenouilles, Preuses, Valmur and Vaudesir. Although the growth of these Grands Crus are limited to 100 hectares, each has its own unique characteristics.
Regardless of the appellation, Chablis is known for its crystal clear golden hue. The next time you pour yourself a glass, examine its clarity and color intensity, and you'll know firsthand why it's known as Liquid Gold.
