That's why the 9-piece Lagostina Melodia cookware set is such an interesting find for the kitchen.

Lagostina, founded in 1901 in Northern Italy, makes high-quality stainless steel cookware crafted completely in Italy and backed by a 25-year warranty.

The Melodia cookware line is also the first Lagostina collection to debut in the U.S. (available exclusively at Williams-Sonoma).

The set perfectly blends functionality and aesthetics. Melodia features tri-ply construction, 18/10 stainless steel cooking surface (which helps with even heat distribution while cooking) and a mirror-polished finish.

The 9-piece set ($499.95 retail) includes:

• a 9" fry pan
• a 2-quart covered sauce pan
• a 3-quart covered sauce pan
• a 4-quart covered saute pan
• a 6-quart covered stockpot

All of the pieces have stay-cool double-loop handles and close-fitting domed lids (with the exception of the 9" fry pan). They're all dishwasher safe, too! A similar 7-piece set is also available for $399.95 retail.

Where are all the tiny little sauciers and sauce pans? Not in the Melodia line. These are all fully functional, useful pieces of cookware for day-to-day cooking.

Lagostina also debuted the Pastaiola, a pasta pot with a close-fitting lid and perforated stainless steel insert for draining noodles and an olive wood pasta rake.
