Contrary to modern traditions, the pilgrims' very first feast lacked some of the foods that we've come to consider Thanksgiving staples.

Kathleen Curtin, Food Historian at Plimoth Plantation gives us a look at what the pilgrims might have had at the first Thanksgiving table.

The First Thanksgiving Menu

• Seafood: Cod, Eel, Clams, Lobster
• Wild Fowl: Wild Turkey, Goose, Duck, Crane, Swan, Partridge, Eagles
• Meat: Venison, Seal
• Grain: Wheat Flour, Maize
• Vegetables: Pumpkin, Peas, Beans, Onions, Lettuce, Radishes, Carrots
• Nuts: Walnuts, Chestnuts, Acorns
• Herbs and Seasonings: Olive Oil, Liverwort, Leeks, Dried Currants, Parsnips

Some Thanksgiving favorites that definitely weren't on the first Thanksgiving menu:

• Ham
• Sweet Potatoes or Potatoes
• Corn on the Cob
• Cranberry Sauce
• Pumpkin Pie
• Chicken or Eggs
• Milk
