Sept. 1 marks the beginning of the third annual Magical Dining Month in Orlando. The Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc. and SYSCO Central Florida are partnering once again to offer Orlando residents and visitors a month-long culinary celebration of the area's diverse restaurants.
Through the end of September, more than 50 restaurants have chosen to participate and offer three-course dinners for $19 or $29 per person, excluding beverages, tax and gratuity.
Orlando Magical Dining Month is a unique way to showcase Central Florida's burgeoning dining scene. All local restaurants are invited to participate, but this year's celebration includes 37 restaurants with $29 menus and 17 restaurants with $19 menus.
"The dining scene has greatly evolved in Orlando and now is the number two destination experience for Orlando visitors, just behind theme park attractions," said Gary C. Sain, president and CEO of the Orlando Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Many of the restaurants on the list are returning favorites from last year or popular new dining establishments among Orlando locals.
"There are a wide array of offerings at Orlando restaurants from celebrity chef-studded eateries and award-winning establishments to uniquely themed environments and a variety of international cuisine and trendy dining experiences," Sain said.
"Orlando Magical Dining Month provides an opportunity to try all of these exceptional culinary experiences for a great value."
Zagat-rated and award-winning upscale dining venues, featuring $29 menus, are scattered across Orlando. Diners can opt for an elegant evening out at any of the following: Emeril's Restaurant Orlando, BICE Ristorante, The Boheme, Tommy Bahama Tropical Cafe, Jeffery's Restaurant, Park Plaza Gardens and The Oceanaire Seafood Room.
For more casual fare and $19 menus, options include Brick & Fire Pizza and Wine Co., Taverna Opa, Fifi's, The Harp and B.B. King's Blues Club & Restaurant.
Emeril's Tchoup Chop is on the $29 menu roster again this year, offering a unique Asian and Polynesian fusion cuisine with a dash of Lagasse's famous bold flavors.
"Orlando Magical Dining Month has introduced us to some of our best and most devoted guests," said Chef Nicholas Shust of Emeril's Tchoup Chop.
"The program gives both locals and those who dine with us while they are visiting Orlando a complete taste of our menu. It's a remarkable tool for hospitality and turning first time diners into loyal friends."
With either three-course menu, diners choose an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. Some restaurants replace the appetizer course with a choice of soup or salad.
Most of the participating restaurants are conveniently located near the heart of Orlando's busiest tourist destinations, including Pointe Orlando, Universal CityWalk, International Drive, MetroWest and downtown Orlando.
